The Neon Sign Garden

The Doo Wop Experience Museum's outdoor Neon Sign Garden is a must-see highlight of the tour. Over a dozen vintage neon signs rescued from demolished motels have been lovingly restored and displayed in this open-air gallery. Each sign tells the story of a bygone era when neon was king and every motel competed to have the most eye-catching sign on the strip.

The museum also offers guided Neon Night Trolley Tours during summer months, taking visitors on an illuminated journey through the Wildwoods' most spectacular neon displays. These popular tours sell out quickly, so advance reservations are recommended.

Tour Tips

Best Time to Go

Start in the late afternoon so you can see the neon signs light up at dusk. The Neon Sign Garden is magical at twilight. Summer evenings are ideal.

Photography

Bring a camera with good low-light capability. The neon signs and retro architecture look best during golden hour and blue hour. A wide-angle lens helps capture full building facades.

Be Respectful

Many of these buildings are active businesses. Please be respectful of guests and property. Photograph from public sidewalks and don't enter private areas without permission.

Seasonal Notes

The Doo Wop Museum is open seasonally (typically Memorial Day through September). The walking tour can be done year-round, but neon signs may not be illuminated off-season.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

The full tour covers about 2.5 miles on flat sidewalks. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water, especially in summer. The route is stroller and wheelchair accessible.
